About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This program provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for a future Pharmacist role.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately and safely.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and soliciting medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare and administer vaccines, educate patients, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Deliver additional health care services like point-of-care testing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between responsibilities to meet patient needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to perform math required for prescription dispensing.
- Capability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
