Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world practice while preparing for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. You will assist the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly and that patient prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.

What you'll do#

• Support pharmacy workflow procedures across workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Demonstrate empathy and care while serving patients, resolving issues, and contributing to a safe, inclusive culture.
• Assist with basic inventory activities, such as processing medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as permitted by law.
• Support immunizations by educating patients, reviewing patient information, and monitoring for adverse reactions, subject to state regulations and required training.
• Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Take on increasing responsibility for the safety and effectiveness of pharmacy operations as your tenure increases.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining such licensure.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong focus and the ability to concentrate on tasks over extended periods.
• Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating tablet counts.
