Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This program provides hands-on experience through a structured training roadmap, covering store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team in delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care to patients while developing the skills necessary for a future role as a pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, providing caring service, and resolving patient concerns.
• Support immunization services by completing required training and licensure, educating patients on vaccine importance, and documenting patient information.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as permitted by law.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, ethical principles, and company policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations to determine prescription dispensing requirements, such as tablet counts and day’s supply.
• Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy to maintain patient safety.
• Commitment to completing all required training within the designated timeframe.
