Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

This Pharmacy Intern position offers an opportunity to apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role involves working within a team to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient prescription fulfillment while providing caring service to patients.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly and safely.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care during interactions at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
• Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntary staffing of offsite clinics, where permitted by law.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and managing returns-to-stock.
• Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members while sharing best practices.
• Follow standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow protocols across all workstations.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Proficiency in using math to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating tablet counts.
• Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy for patient safety.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a professional, helpful demeanor with patients and colleagues.

• Compensation: Paid position ($18.00 - $19.75 per hour).
