About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on developing your skills to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams in delivering our brand promise while ensuring smooth operations and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and pharmacy workflow processes at all workstations.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering immunizations and other health services.
- Counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify details when necessary.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform inventory activities, such as processing deliveries and completing cycle counts.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient safety and privacy.
- Support immunizations as a Technician Immunizer, including educating patients and monitoring for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work a part-time schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication, including active listening.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication dispensing.
- Physical ability to remain mobile, lift up to 20 lbs, and reach or stoop as needed for pharmacy tasks.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and work across multiple locations within the market.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
