Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice, preparing for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting the pharmacy team to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing your clinical and technical skills.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in patient interactions, including fielding medical questions and providing counseling under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Assist with basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
• Contribute to a high-performing team by embracing a growth mindset and remaining receptive to feedback.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and safety.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Proficiency in using math to solve pharmacy-related problems, such as calculating medication dosages.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 20 lbs.
