Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education into real-world practice to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role is focused on supporting pharmacy teams to deliver safe, accurate, and compassionate patient care while developing your professional skills.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly and accurately.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, addressing patient needs, and offering services such as immunizations.
• Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy.
• Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, including taking telephonic prescriptions and clarifying information with prescribers where permitted.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern and/or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong attention to detail to confirm prescription accuracy and ensure patient safety.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Ability to maintain mobility and remain upright for extended periods, including the capacity to lift up to 20 lbs.
