Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This role focuses on preparing you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations at the store, district, and regional levels. You will gain hands-on experience through a structured training roadmap designed to build clinical and operational aptitude.

What you'll do#

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, resolving patient issues, and offering health care services.
• Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where allowable by law and supported by training.
• Maintain the highest level of self-awareness while mentoring team members and sharing best practices.
• Support pharmacy operations by assisting with inventory activities, such as cycle counts and returns-to-stocks.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations, or be in the process of obtaining it.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Proficiency in using math to solve problems, such as calculating dosages and day supplies.
• Ability to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
