Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in pharmacy operations and patient care. You will complete a training roadmap that includes key learning experiences and hands-on activities to build your clinical and technical skills.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
• Follow all company standard operating procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, addressing patient needs, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
• Field medical questions and obtain patient medical histories under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
• Maintain flexibility to work across different store locations within the market as business needs require.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
• Ability to concentrate on specific tasks over extended periods.
• Capacity to pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business demands.
• Proficiency in using mathematical reasoning to solve problems, such as calculating medication dosages or day supplies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on active listening.
