Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your academic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, store, district, and regional workflows. This role focuses on developing your skills to prepare for future responsibilities as a pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team in daily operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, solving problems, and providing caring service.
• Support immunization services, including patient education, documentation, and administration where permitted by law and training.
• Participate in inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing deliveries.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers, including taking telephonic prescriptions and clarifying medication details.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and company safety policies.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, including active listening.
• Mathematical reasoning skills to accurately calculate dosages and supply needs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel to other store locations within the market as needed.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including standing for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
