About the role#
This Pharmacy Intern position is a part-time, paid opportunity for Summer 2026 located in West Hartford, Connecticut. You will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice, working under the direction of a preceptor to gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations and patient care. This role is designed to help you build clinical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership skills in preparation for a future career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off, to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, solving patient problems, and offering compassionate care over the phone or in person.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and timely prescription filling.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members while maintaining self-awareness.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stock.
- Support patient health services, including immunization education and documentation, where permitted by law and supported by training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus, with the ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet business needs.
- A customer-service mindset with the ability to assist others in a friendly, empathetic manner.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including remaining mobile for extended periods, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
