Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to provide hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations. This role focuses on supporting pharmacy teams to ensure safe, accurate, and prompt prescription fulfillment while developing the skills necessary for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, including filling prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, genuine care, and compassionate problem-solving.
• Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination-related questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
• Complete licensure and training requirements, in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
• Support inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns, as permitted by law.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession of, or active progress toward obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
• Ability to use math to solve problems, such as calculating tablet counts, day’s supply, and bottle requirements.
• Commitment to regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
