Foreign Pharmacy Grad - International Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while completing your required US internship hours. This program is designed to help you apply your didactic pharmacy education to real-world practice under the guidance of a preceptor. You will participate in a structured learning plan, including Key Learning Experiences, to develop the clinical, technical, and leadership skills necessary to succeed as a pharmacist.

What you'll do#

• Assist the pharmacy team in ensuring operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Provide caring service to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone, including offering immunizations and other health services.
• Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production and patient interaction points.
• Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes, as permitted by state regulation.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Engage in professional development, including coaching and mentoring, to build business acumen and pharmacy leadership skills.

What you'll need#

• Must be a foreign graduate from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• FPGEC certification is required.
• Must be prepared to obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of completing required US intern hours.
• Ability to complete the internship program within 18 months.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, and performing repetitive tasks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
