About the role#
As a Quality Control Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with construction management and material specifications. You will work within a vertically integrated company, supporting various lines of business and learning how quality standards are maintained in the field.
What you'll do#
- Learn HMA production processes, paving methods, and density control.
- Assist with testing materials for weight, gravity, temperature, thickness, and gradation.
- Work with QC Technicians on smoothness determinations and IRI reporting.
- Conduct and test equipment calibrations.
- Input test results into computers in laboratories and remote locations.
- Communicate test results and mix specifications to paving personnel.
- Report all findings and data ethically.
- Learn about aggregate processing and quality conformance.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to perform intermediate math, including basic algebra, geometry, and shop math.
- Capacity to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
- Proficiency in reading English for manuals, reports, and specifications.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Physical ability to lift or move more than 100 pounds.
- Ability to walk up to ten miles per day and navigate irregular terrain.
