About the role#
This is a rolling internship based in Columbus, Ohio. You will join the team as a Mine Engineer intern to support aggregate operations. The role is full-time and requires on-site work at various sites. You will gain exposure to mine planning, drone operations, and quality control processes.
What you'll do#
- Participate in exploratory drilling and log cores.
- Operate Electrical Resistivity Imaging (ERI) hardware.
- Review drilling logs to determine the location, size, and volume of deposits.
- Assist with short-range and long-range mine planning designs.
- Pilot drones for inventory management, topography mapping, and stripping calculations.
- Use drone software to measure inventory piles.
- Support Quality Control and Quality Assurance assessments.
- Use GPS equipment to stake out locations or store points.
- Shadow personnel in operations, safety, and performance roles.
- Assist with drilling and blasting tasks.
- Present findings to stakeholders across different departments.
- Identify safety hazards and follow all state and federal regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an industry-related college degree program with a minimum 2.75 GPA.
- A valid driver's license that meets state requirements.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
- Willingness to obtain MSHA New Miner Training and FAA Part 107 Certification for sUAV operators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for both written and oral tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Access to a personal mobile phone and a vehicle capable of driving to job sites.
