About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the construction and manufacturing sectors. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of our operations by rotating through departments including Quality Control, Sales, Maintenance, and Operations. This role is full-time and based on-site in Omaha.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project management for both public and private construction jobs.
- Work with estimators on bidding processes and follow-through.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction crew foremen.
- Spend time at asphalt plants working with operators, yard crews, and loader operators.
- Learn to run scales and assist with general plant maintenance.
- Work with construction and prep crews to learn about equipment and job site setup.
- Assist the Operations Manager with monthly projections, job costs, workloads, and financial statements.
- Gain experience in aggregate locations by learning about materials in quarries and pits.
- Work with concrete plant foremen on daily activities and coordinate with dispatch for job site deliveries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Sophomore through Senior standing pursuing a degree or certificate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Concrete Industry Management, or a related field.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to compute formulas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret delivery tickets, safety rules, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate professionally and handle stressful environments.
