About the role#
This co-op position is for students currently enrolled in a technical college degree program. You will work alongside experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience with heavy equipment. The role provides insight into the diesel mechanic field through practical repair and maintenance tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
- Work on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance projects.
- Learn to use work orders, inventory systems, and vehicle condition reporting tools.
- Gain exposure to state and federal regulations including DOT, OSHA, and MSHA.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and support team members with various tasks.
- Prioritize personal safety and quality in all aspects of your work.
- Maintain regular and timely attendance.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a technical college degree program and a High School Diploma or GED.
- A current driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A willingness to work in a team environment.
- Mobility to attend meetings and events at offsite locations.
- Ability to report to the job site ready to work at the designated start time.
