About the role#
Cordell and Cordell PC is hiring for a Summer Associate position for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Falls Church, Virginia. The program is designed to mirror the experience of a first-year associate, providing you with practical legal work and direct mentorship. Successful completion of the program may lead to part-time law clerk positions during your third year or full-time roles after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Draft and analyze legal documents for active family law cases.
- Conduct legal research and help prepare trial materials.
- Attend court proceedings alongside experienced attorneys.
- Join client meetings to gain insight into case strategy.
- Work directly with a Litigation Partner to build a foundation in family law practice.
- Participate in firm-sponsored networking and social events.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support firm operations.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current 2L student (2028 graduate) in good standing at an accredited law school.
- A demonstrated interest in a career in family law is required.
- A law school GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- The ability to reside in or relocate to the assigned office location for the program duration.
- Flexibility regarding your work location upon graduation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
