About the role#
Copart is seeking a Database Engineering Intern to join the Database Development team. This role provides hands-on experience in database modeling, development, and maintenance within a global online vehicle auction environment.
What you'll do#
- Analyze data requirements for business applications and build conceptual models.
- Develop physical data models and data migration or conversion strategies for internally hosted applications.
- Program and write SQL code to support the creation of tables, views, stored procedures, functions, reports, and triggers.
- Develop and maintain complex stored procedures, views, and functions on MariaDB, MySQL, DB2 AS400, and DB2 LUW databases.
- Troubleshoot production data issues and perform cleanup of junk data.
- Maintain reference data in collaboration with business analysts to meet industry standards.
- Support the full lifecycle of software products and work with application teams to optimize the database tier.
What you'll need#
- A BS or BA in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, MIS, or a relevant technology degree.
- Strong knowledge of Python Object Oriented Programming, design patterns, algorithms, and data structures.
- Solid understanding of SQL.
- Familiarity with Git for source code control and continuous integration.
- Fluency in Linux/UNIX shell and common commands.
- Ability to work with frameworks such as Flask or Django, as well as NumPy and pandas.
- Understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and REST API design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
