About the role#
Conduent is hiring an Applied AI Engineer Intern to support AI-enabled initiatives within Government Healthcare Solutions. This role focuses on organizing enterprise knowledge and improving information retrieval to help teams use existing data more effectively. This is a remote, part-time internship requiring 20 hours per week during the fall term.
What you'll do#
- Build preprocessing and LLM-assisted extraction workflows to transform unstructured data into structured representations.
- Establish an embeddings and vector-index retrieval baseline as an experiment.
- Explore knowledge graphs and knowledge maps to compare their performance against vector baselines.
- Define and track retrieval and knowledge-quality measures, including relevance, precision, and groundedness.
- Document architecture decisions, experimental results, limitations, and recommended next steps.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program for Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with natural language processing, information extraction, and vector search.
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation as an experimental method.
- Strong written communication skills to explain technical work to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfort working with unstructured text and conducting quantitative evaluations.
