    About the role#

    The Children and Family Law Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Lowell is accepting applications for Spring 2027 internships. Interns support lawyers and social workers representing parents and children in cases involving the Department of Children and Families. This work focuses on neglect and abuse claims as well as child requiring assistance cases.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct client interviews and home or placement visits.
    • Perform case investigations to help with trial preparation.
    • Research and write legal documents for motion arguments and trials.
    • Review pre-trial discovery and Department of Children and Families case files.
    • Attend education-related proceedings such as suspension hearings and IEP meetings.

    What you'll need#

    • A commitment to zealous advocacy and community-oriented defense.
    • Access to reliable transportation for travel to courts and investigation sites.
    • A personal computer and home internet access for remote work.
    • Current enrollment in a program such as Criminal Justice, Political Science, Sociology, or Psychology.
