About the role#
The Youth Advocacy Division (YAD) Worcester Office of the Committee for Public Counsel Services is hiring interns for the Spring 2027 term. Interns work alongside lawyers and social workers to represent juveniles in delinquency and youthful offender cases. You will support our mission to provide zealous legal representation and educational advocacy for indigent children in Massachusetts.
What you'll do#
- Conduct client interviews.
- Assist with arraignment and bail arguments.
- Perform legal research and draft pretrial motions, affidavits, and legal memoranda.
- Conduct pretrial investigations, including visiting crime scenes and interviewing witnesses.
- Assist attorneys during jury and bench trials in criminal cases.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all client representation and related work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in law school.
- A demonstrated commitment to zealous advocacy, community-oriented defense, and the protection of constitutional and human rights.
- Access to reliable transportation for travel to courts, clients, and investigation locations.
- A personal computer with home internet access sufficient for remote work.
