Website Accessibility Student Specialist (Federal Work Study)

About the role#

This position supports the effort to make the college website ADA-compliant and accessible to blind, low-vision, and disabled users. Working under the direction of the web content supervisor, you will implement technical fixes across CSCC.edu to ensure digital inclusivity.

What you'll do#

• Follow a structured list of recommended HTML and document fixes.
• Implement HTML updates using best practices, such as adding alt text for images, correcting table headers, and adjusting heading levels.
• Prepare documents for conversion into accessible PDF formats.
• Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of student records and sensitive information.
• Work independently to document completed tasks and learn new accessibility standards.

What you'll need#

• Intermediate knowledge of HTML and word processing.
• Working knowledge of ADA compliance standards.
• Current enrollment in six or more credit hours in a degree or certificate program at Columbus State.
• Federal Work Study eligibility as part of your current Financial Aid package.
• Reliable transportation to attend work regularly.
• Knowledge of ADA standards for HTML and PDF is preferred, though training is available.

Location & details#

• Location: Columbus, Ohio.
• Modality: Hybrid (combination of remote and on-site work).
• Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, scheduled between Monday and Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Compensation: $12.00 per hour.
• Relevant Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Graphic Design.
