The Academic Technology Support (ATS) team is seeking a student assistant to support campus operations. This role involves maintaining classroom and lab technology, assisting instructors with technical needs, and contributing to the overall functionality of learning spaces. This is a Federal Work Study position designed to provide hands-on experience in an IT and Audio/Visual environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist instructors with technology issues in classrooms and labs, including computers, monitors, software, audio devices, projectors, and cable management.
- Participate in computer lab and software installations and perform regular maintenance on classroom and lab technology.
- Document all work with high attention to detail and communicate regularly with IT staff.
- Maintain data and computer security by backing up files, anchoring equipment, and tracking work orders.
- Review training materials and Knowledgebase articles for accuracy and assist with in-person training when needed.
- Demonstrate initiative in building professional relationships with end users and other departments.
- Attend required training and maintain regular, predictable attendance.
What you'll need#
- Must have Federal Work Study eligibility as part of your current Financial Aid package at Columbus State.
- Must be enrolled in at least six credit hours in a degree or certificate program.
- High school diploma, certificate of attendance, or certificate of high school equivalence.
- Customer service experience.
- Reliable transportation to the campus.
- Ability to operate personal computers, laptops, and media equipment, with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including solid spelling and grammar.
- Ability to diagnose minor repairs, identify major repair needs, and adapt to changing priorities.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (up to 20 hours per week, based on department needs and student schedule).
- Relevant Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Graphic Design, and Media Studies.
