FWS Micro Intern (Conference Preparation)

About the role#

The Languages & Communication department is seeking a student to assist with conference preparation for the Ohio Communication Association. This is a short-term, project-based Federal Work Study (FWS) micro-internship designed to provide professional experience through defined deliverables. The project requires 10 to 40 hours of work total, with a maximum of 20 hours per week, between July and early August 2026.

What you'll do#

• Convert MS Word documents into .pdf files.
• Maintain records and ensure all documents remain anonymous.
• Update spreadsheets to assist with data entry and organization.
• Deliver a categorized database of .pdf files.

What you'll need#

• An accepted Federal Work Study award for the 2025-26 academic year.
• Enrollment in at least six credit hours in a degree or certificate program.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standing.
• Reliable transportation to the work site.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Location & details#

• Location: Phillips Hall, Room 225, 303 S. Grant Avenue, Columbus, Ohio.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Compensation: $17.50 per hour.
• Schedule: Flexible, determined by department needs and student availability between Monday and Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
