FWS Micro Intern (Student Media Project)

About the role#

The FWS Micro Intern (Student Media Project) is a short-term, project-based role designed to help students develop professional communication and public speaking skills. The project focuses on sharing personal student stories and the impact of the college experience. This position is a 30-40 hour commitment taking place between July and early August 2026.

What you'll do#

• Attend trainings focused on various aspects of public relations.
• Develop and refine skills in written communication and public speaking.
• Contribute to and appear in a media project that celebrates student achievements and highlights the benefits of the college.
• Create a written feature highlighting your personal journey and collaboration with the college.
• Speak in public forums to discuss college opportunities and your personal experiences.
• Participate in a digital media project to learn how to communicate effectively to a broad audience.

What you'll need#

• An accepted Federal Work Study award as part of your 2025-26 Financial Aid award.
• Enrollment in at least six credit hours in a degree or certificate program.
• Active status as a Columbus Promise student.
• Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
• A high school diploma, certificate of attendance, or certificate of high school equivalence.
• Reliable transportation to the campus.

Location & details#

• Location: Columbus, Ohio (On-site).
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Compensation: $17.50 per hour.
• Schedule: Tasks are performed between Monday and Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
