About the role#
Coeur Alaska is seeking a mineral process engineering student for a 6-8 month Co-Op at the Kensington Mine. You will join the Metallurgical and Assay team to gain hands-on experience in process operations. This role requires a commitment of 6-8 months, beginning in Winter or Spring 2027. You will work a rotational schedule of approximately 3 weeks on and 1 week off at our remote site.
What you'll do#
- Manage projects in the mill, water treatment, and office to improve process efficiencies.
- Operate water treatment and milling circuits while learning all aspects of the assay and metallurgical testing labs.
- Perform metallurgical accounting, process modeling, and circuit optimization.
- Collaborate with other interns to develop and present a group project on company improvements.
- Prioritize safety by following all protocols and exercising your authority to stop work for safety concerns.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student entering your Junior or Senior year.
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5, with a preference for 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, miners, and geologists.
- Analytical skills and familiarity with mass balancing.
- Comfort working underground, in metallurgical labs, and in environments with heat from furnaces and ovens.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- This is a paid position. Housing and meals are provided while on rotation.
