About the role#
As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will work alongside engineering and operational leaders to solve problems within the steel manufacturing process. This role is based in Cleveland, Ohio, and involves hands-on work in our lab and production environments.
What you'll do#
- Complete monthly safety inspections and observations for the Metallurgical Department.
- Follow and ensure plant safety policies are maintained.
- Manage daily workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
- Oversee test equipment calibrations and provide support for the Steelmaking spectrometer lab.
- Create operating efficiencies to support the production, testing, and shipping of steel.
- Conduct data-mining investigations regarding metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, and scrap charges.
- Manage third-party testing inspections and maintain tracking for steelmaking scrap, referrals, and diversions.
- Perform metallurgical investigations and manage grade maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
