About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, you will work alongside engineering and operational leaders to solve real-world problems. This role provides hands-on experience in a steel manufacturing environment. You will work under the guidance of supervisory personnel to apply engineering principles to daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Research, design, evaluate, install, modernize, and repair machinery and equipment.
- Recommend or perform predictive, preventative, and emergency maintenance.
- Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those during scheduled shutdowns or breakdowns.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Participate in the planning, scheduling, and cost control of maintenance and engineering projects.
- Analyze current operating performance and standard operating procedures to suggest improvements.
- Support various other projects as needed to assist the business.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical degree.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.
- Current legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
