About the role#
As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will work alongside engineering and operational leaders to solve real-world problems in the steel industry. This position involves hands-on work in our Metallurgical Department and testing labs. You will gain experience in data analysis, lab operations, and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Complete monthly safety inspections and observations while ensuring all plant safety policies are followed.
- Manage daily workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab and oversee equipment calibrations.
- Maintain the Steelmaking spectrometer lab and provide on-call support.
- Identify new operating efficiencies to support the production, testing, and shipping of steel.
- Conduct data-mining investigations regarding metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, and scrap charges.
- Manage third-party testing inspections and track steelmaking scrap, referrals, and diversions.
- Perform metallurgical investigations and assist with grade maintenance and development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related technical degree.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
