About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work alongside engineering and operational leaders to solve real-world problems in the steel industry. You will apply engineering principles to support plant operations under the guidance of supervisory personnel. This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 internship.
What you'll do#
- Recommend, perform, and oversee predictive, preventative, and emergency equipment maintenance.
- Research, design, install, modernize, and repair machinery and equipment.
- Resolve equipment malfunctions, including those occurring during scheduled shutdowns or breakdowns.
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and cost control of engineering and maintenance projects.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
- Analyze operating performance and standard procedures to recommend improvements.
- Support the business through various additional projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical degree.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year by the summer of 2027.
- Current legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
