About the role#
This paid internship offers a look into the energy operations at CHS Inc. You will work alongside our team in Mitchell, South Dakota, during the winter or summer of 2027. The role focuses on the work of a Certified Energy Specialist and provides exposure to how we support agricultural customers.
What you'll do#
- Shadow the Certified Energy Specialist to understand their daily responsibilities.
- Learn how to increase sales and profitability for the cooperative through Cenex products and services.
- Build and maintain working relationships with current and potential customers.
- Gain knowledge of CHS energy programs.
- Attend sales calls and in-person commercial business meetings.
- Spend time in the field with the energy service team to understand how the department functions.
- Join a propane route driver for a ride-along to see how delivery coordinates with the broader team.
- Work with the Energy Manager to learn about safe, productive, and efficient operations.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an energy, agriculture, or related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Background knowledge in agriculture or energy is preferred.
- Previous internship experience is a plus.
