About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will work under the supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to improve production efficiency. You will assist in developing systems that integrate workers, machinery, and materials to eliminate waste. Depending on performance and business needs, this internship may lead to a full-time position upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Improve and manage manufacturing processes to increase productivity.
- Design and implement new tooling and processes for new products.
- Perform operational studies, including time studies and productivity analysis.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to ensure process controls and equipment safety.
- Develop training materials and conduct training for staff on process control activities.
- Update standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Study material flow and map processes to maximize workflow and spatial utilization.
- Manage improvement projects, including Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing methodology and report on cost savings.
- Support environmental and safety compliance initiatives.
- Assist in designing prototypes or modifications to existing equipment.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or current student with at least three years of completed coursework and relevant experience.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions, analyze business periodicals, and write reports.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data and draw valid conclusions.
- Preferred experience: AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Modeling, and 3D design.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment manufacturing, welding technology, or control panels is a plus.
