About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will work under the supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to improve production processes. You will help identify ways to increase productivity and eliminate waste by integrating workers, machines, and materials. This is a rolling internship based in Ogden, Utah. Depending on your performance and company needs, this role may transition into a full-time position upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Manage and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency.
- Design and implement new tooling or processes for new products.
- Perform operational studies, including time studies and productivity analysis.
- Ensure process controls, such as TPM and PM, are in place for equipment.
- Develop training materials and conduct sessions on process control activities.
- Update standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Map material flow and conduct studies to maximize spatial utilization.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing methods and lead Kaizen events.
- Design prototypes or modifications for existing equipment.
- Track and report on cost savings and process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering program with at least three years of coursework completed, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Three years of relevant experience or training.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and analyze data using mathematical operations like frequency distribution and variance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to draw conclusions from gathered data.
- Excellent communication skills for writing reports and presenting information to managers or clients.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, and 3D design is preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment manufacturing, welding, or control panel technology is a plus.
