About the role#
As a Student Advocate, you will work with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify and address barriers that students face. You will provide resources and guidance to help students reach their academic, emotional, and social potential. The goal is to build an inclusive environment that supports student growth and well-being.
What you'll do#
- Communicate accurately and on time with students and their families to maintain a strong partnership.
- Evaluate student progress by reviewing attendance, academic, and behavioral data.
- Coordinate with community partners to build and provide resources for families.
- Support a positive school climate through daily interactions with students, families, and staff.
- Assist with the supervision of students during both instructional and non-instructional time.
- Use restorative justice processes to focus on learning and repairing harm.
- Conduct home visits to gather information and maintain accurate student records.
- Facilitate social and emotional growth while implementing behavior strategies under teacher direction.
What you'll need#
- An Associate's degree.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse school community.
- Knowledge of and experience working with students from all backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- A solid record of punctuality.
- The ability to perform physical activity, including frequent standing or walking.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid position based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- We welcome applicants from fields such as Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, and Public Health.
- The term for this role is rolling.
