About the role#
Centrus Energy Corp. is hiring engineering interns for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside experienced personnel to support uranium enrichment and plant processes. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, running from May to August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform design, layout, and analysis for uranium enrichment and supporting plant systems.
- Draft engineering evaluation reports by studying existing documentation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop updated design requirements.
- Conduct basic design tasks, research, material testing, and technical drawings.
- Participate in standard engineering projects and support Safety and Quality Assurance activities.
- Prepare engineering documentation, including specifications and design requirements.
- Review technical designs and papers as a presenter or panel member.
- Assist senior and principal engineers with daily project tasks.
- Deliver an end-of-summer presentation summarizing your accomplishments and lessons learned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor or graduate program in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of study.
- A general understanding of basic engineering and scientific principles.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Experience with engineering design processes, technical writing, and problem solving from classroom or internship settings.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and vetting for access to export-controlled information.

- Compensation: $23-$25 per hour.
