Audit and Tax Intern | Spring 2027

About the role#

CBIZ is seeking an Audit and Tax Intern to join the team for the Fall 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The intern will gain hands-on experience in accounting and auditing principles while supporting client assignments across various industries, including real estate, construction, nonprofit, and manufacturing.

What you'll do#

• Assist in planning audit assignments and participate in client engagements from beginning to end.
• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for partnerships, C corporations, S corporations, and individuals.
• Support tax compliance work, including IRS audits, tax notice responses, trust returns, and gift and estate returns.
• Identify and communicate audit issues and improvement opportunities to senior associates, managers, and partners.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with client staff to ensure high-quality service and responsiveness.
• Apply accounting and auditing principles while maintaining strict standards of client confidentiality and professional conduct.

What you'll need#

• Currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.
• A minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, research, and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of an organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and internal software.
• Ability to multi-task, think independently, and solve problems within a team environment.
• Active participation in student organizations or prior work experience in accounting is considered a plus.
