Carpenter Co. offers an 11-week, full-time Research and Development summer internship based at the Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia. This role supports the Sustainability group, providing the opportunity to gain experience in how engineering principles translate into sustainability initiatives under the guidance of a senior mentor. The internship begins on May 26, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Update software templates to streamline data collection and improve system robustness.
- Complete site-level sustainability data profiles for North American Carpenter facilities.
- Interpret collected data to draw actionable conclusions.
- Document all findings in a formal report format.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years of college or university in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
