Research and Development Summer Intern, Sustainability

About the role#

Carpenter Co. offers a 12-week, full-time Research and Development summer internship based at the Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia. This role supports the Sustainability group, providing hands-on experience in applying engineering principles to real-world sustainability opportunities under the guidance of a senior mentor.

What you'll do#

• Update software templates to streamline data collection and improve robustness.
• Complete site-level sustainability data profiles for North American Carpenter facilities.
• Interpret collected data and draw conclusions.
• Document findings in a formal report.

What you'll need#

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of at least two years of college or university in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
• Minimum 2.75 GPA.
• Basic proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
