The Coordinator of Student Involvement and Traditions serves as a primary point of contact for campus traditions and student leadership development within the Division of Student Affairs. This role focuses on mentoring students, fostering leadership growth, and supporting the diverse student community at Carnegie Mellon University.
What you'll do#
- Provide advisement, training, and professional development for the student governance structure, including the Undergraduate Student Senate, elections board, and Student Leader Council.
- Supervise student government employees, including the Chief of Staff, Constitutional Advisor, and technical team.
- Advise the Activities Board and AB Tech, supporting the execution of concerts, speakers, and student-run technical services.
- Coordinate campus-wide traditions such as THE FAIR, Scotty Saturday, Winter Welcome, and Senior Week, including managing budgets exceeding $50,000.
- Support the event advisement program and provide general advisory support to over 350 student organizations.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in student affairs or event planning.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and reasoning skills.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills.
- A proven track record of championing an innovative and collaborative work environment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Summer 2026 (Anticipated start date: August 1, 2026).
- Modality: On-site.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
