    About the role#

    This is a student work term with the Bitumen Production or Utilities and Upgrading Process Engineering teams. You will gain experience in plant operations and engineering design while working on both short-range operational improvements and long-range strategic projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist engineering teams with operations, maintenance, and design tasks.
    • Learn about plant equipment and internal processes.
    • Collect field measurements and data to support engineering staff.
    • Participate in the development and execution of improvements in the field and lab.
    • Work with Project and Operations teams to solve engineering issues.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • A valid Class 5 Alberta driver license or equivalent.
    • A motivated and positive attitude.
    • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening test.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta at Horizon Mine Operations.
    • Terms: Winter 2027 or Summer 2027 start dates.
    • Duration: 8 or 12 months.
    • Schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours per shift.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Employment status: Full-time and paid position.
