About the role#
This is a student work term with the Bitumen Production or Utilities and Upgrading Process Engineering teams. You will gain experience in plant operations and engineering design while working on both short-range operational improvements and long-range strategic projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineering teams with operations, maintenance, and design tasks.
- Learn about plant equipment and internal processes.
- Collect field measurements and data to support engineering staff.
- Participate in the development and execution of improvements in the field and lab.
- Work with Project and Operations teams to solve engineering issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver license or equivalent.
- A motivated and positive attitude.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening test.
Location & details#
- Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta at Horizon Mine Operations.
- Terms: Winter 2027 or Summer 2027 start dates.
- Duration: 8 or 12 months.
- Schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours per shift.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment status: Full-time and paid position.
