About the role#
As a Chemical Engineering Student, you will join the Oil Sands Projects team. You will work on engineering and design problems across areas like bitumen production, upgrading, utilities, and tailings. This role provides an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to real projects while working under the direction of a Senior Process Engineer.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project scope and process engineering deliverables, including process simulations, hydraulic calculations, and data sheets.
- Generate and revise PFDs and P&IDs.
- Gather and analyze operational data to support design efforts.
- Coordinate with Technical Safety, Operations, Maintenance, and other engineering disciplines.
- Review and check designs provided by engineering contractors.
- Follow documentation quality control processes through discipline reviews.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Chemical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of basic design principles.
- General knowledge of process plant operation and equipment design.
- Ability to read and generate material and energy balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Working knowledge of Hysys or UNISIM.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license or equivalent.
- Previous process engineering or field experience in an operating plant is an asset.
