About the role#
The Department of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona is hiring a Student Communications & Outreach Assistant to support the launch of the Certified Wellness Coach II Program. This role helps prepare students for careers in the behavioral health workforce and supports the department's upcoming Bachelor of Social Work program. The position runs through January 15, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.
What you'll do#
You will work with faculty and staff to advertise and market the program. Your tasks include:
- Researching and compiling information for promotional materials.
- Designing flyers, brochures, and marketing assets.
- Updating webpage content.
- Creating social media content.
- Filming and editing an informational video.
- Promoting events and informational sessions.
- Supporting recruitment and community outreach.
- Traveling occasionally with staff to local colleges for outreach events.
What you'll need#
We are looking for someone creative, organized, and reliable who can work independently. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills and a detail-oriented approach. Experience with Canva, graphic design, social media, photography, or video editing is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
This is a hybrid position. While much of the work is remote, you must attend monthly in-person meetings on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. You may also be required to attend occasional outreach events on campus or at nearby community colleges. This role is part-time, requiring approximately 5 hours per week.
