About the role#
Project CAMINOS Student Ambassadors represent the Office of Academic Engagement and Success. You will support programs that promote college awareness and access for K-12 students, families, and community partners. This role involves assisting with workshops, college fairs, and campus events while providing guidance to prospective students.
What you'll do#
- Engage with prospective students, families, and educators during outreach programs.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group mentorship regarding college pathways, admissions, financial aid, and campus resources.
- Support the planning and facilitation of campus visits, workshops, and special events.
- Demonstrate how to navigate college planning tools and refer families to appropriate university departments.
- Share personal educational experiences to provide authentic peer perspectives.
- Maintain records of participation and outreach activities.
- Develop social media content, support podcast production, and design promotional materials.
- Collaborate with professional staff and fellow ambassadors while attending required training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Cal Poly Pomona undergraduate student.
- Reliable personal transportation, a valid California driver’s license, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to work at least 8 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Good judicial standing at the university.
- Comfort using technology, online platforms, and office equipment.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Experience working with K-12 students or prior leadership and peer mentoring roles is preferred.
