About the role#
The Musical Entertainment Student Assistant supports the planning and execution of concerts and small performances for the Cal Poly community. You will work under the supervision of the Coordinator for ASI Events to help bring both student performers and mainstream artists to campus. This position requires availability during the summer 2027 term and a commitment to working two consecutive terms.
What you'll do#
- Manage event logistics, including setup, contracts, and correspondence.
- Evaluate musical events and review promotional materials for potential performers.
- Supervise student staff and act as the primary contact for vendors and artists during events.
- Oversee the musical entertainment budget.
- Develop relationships with local establishments for artist routing.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, and retreats.
- Assist with the execution of various ASI events beyond musical entertainment.
- Maintain a professional relationship with staff and co-workers while providing quality customer service.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units (or 4 units for graduate students).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Previous experience in musical entertainment, event planning, or administration is preferred.
- Ability to supervise others and lead program participants.

- Compensation: $16.90 per hour.
- Schedule: May include late nights, weekends, and holidays.
