About the role#
Cabrini Green Legal Aid is looking for a Communications Intern to support our marketing and digital media efforts. This role focuses on amplifying the stories of people impacted by the criminal legal system. You will work alongside our Communications Manager to handle day-to-day tasks across social media, email marketing, and content management. This is an unpaid, full-time summer internship based on-site in Chicago.
What you'll do#
- Write captions and posts for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Help maintain our editorial calendar and schedule content.
- Interact with partner organizations by liking, commenting, and sharing their posts.
- Monitor trending audio to use in future social media reels.
- Upload videos and other content to our YouTube channel.
- Assist with drafting sections of our monthly newsletter.
- Organize digital assets, including photos and videos.
- Support the development of our Arts and Archives exhibition as a capstone project.
What you'll need#
- An interest in social justice, advocacy, and nonprofit communications.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- Familiarity with common social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and ask questions when needed.
- An organized and proactive approach to your work.
- Experience with Canva, graphic design, or video editing is preferred.
- Pursuing studies in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Marketing, Sociology, Psychology, Art, or Media Studies.
