About the role#
As an Industrial Engineering Intern at Mercury Marine, you will join a manufacturing team responsible for producing outboard and sterndrive motors. You will work both independently and alongside experienced professionals on the plant floor. This role allows you to own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion while gaining hands-on experience in a professional manufacturing setting.
What you'll do#
- Participate in design reviews to improve the manufacture of new parts and operations.
- Evaluate test and production data to prepare technical analysis and recommend manufacturing methods.
- Design, plan, and conduct process improvement or cost reduction studies.
- Evaluate vendor capability, identify new processes, and conduct qualification tests.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing problems to drive production execution and maintain schedules.
- Analyze data to make recommendations that reduce parts or process costs.
- Collaborate with managers, supervisors, technicians, and production employees.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant degree with a Manufacturing Engineering emphasis.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Ability to enroll in a formalized co-op program through your university.
- Permanent US work authorization.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and engaged learning approach.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.

- Location: Brownsburg, Indiana.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time (40 or more hours per week).
- Compensation: $18.00 - $27.50 per hour.
