About the role#
As a Foundry Engineering Co-op, you will join the Mercury Marine team at our aluminum high pressure die cast and lost foam foundry in Fond du Lac. This role provides hands-on exposure to advanced manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve product quality, efficiency, and innovation. This is a paid, full-time position offering practical experience in a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Support additive manufacturing initiatives, including 3D printing of prototypes, fixtures, and engineering components.
- Create and modify 3D models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation using CAD software.
- Support casting simulation and engineering analysis to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret casting quality and production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with the design, maintenance, and modification of die cast, trim, and foam tooling.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials Science, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.

- Term: Winter 2027 or Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week) from January through August or May through August 2027.
