About the role#
As a Materials Engineering Co-op at Mercury Marine, you will join an engineering team focused on the metal melting processes used to create outboard and sterndrive motors. You will work alongside manufacturing professionals, supervisors, and production operators on the plant floor. This role offers the opportunity to manage projects from start to finish while gaining hands-on experience in a professional manufacturing setting.
What you'll do#
- Test chemical properties of alloys used in production casting processes.
- Analyze chemical properties for aluminum and tool steel.
- Assist full-time team members across multiple operational plants with various projects and data analysis.
- Develop and edit operating procedures.
- Manage assigned projects from inception through completion.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Material Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant degree with a controls, systems, or analytics emphasis.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Ability to enroll in a formalized co-op program through your university.
- Capacity to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the periods of January through August or May through December 2027.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.

- Compensation: Paid position with an anticipated pay range of $18.00 to $27.50 per hour.
