About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in motor vehicle manufacturing at the Brose Group facility in New Boston, Michigan. You will work directly with the Industrial Engineering team to support production operations, process planning, and capacity analysis during the Summer 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through production business units to learn about manufacturing processes, plant layouts, and assembly operations.
- Assist the Industrial Engineering team with time studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing.
- Create and update process flow diagrams, P-FMEA documentation, and manufacturing layouts.
- Update work instructions to ensure documentation matches current production processes and engineering changes.
- Participate in trial builds and support PPAP/ISIR activities for production programs.
- Perform ergonomics assessments and job-safety analyses while following safety and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain skill matrices and audit production operator training records.
- Compile and analyze data related to production, quality, and attendance to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Industrial Engineering Coordinators and Team Leads in cross-functional meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Freshman or Sophomore in a Bachelor degree program for Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn systems such as AutoCAD, SAP, and MFG/PRO.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with production and engineering teams.
